Is Yoga Sculpt For You?
Is Yoga Sculpt For You?
By: Jeri Michelle Hartley, Founder of Tone Sculpt Yoga
“One free week of yoga for new students.” I used to walk past this sign at a local yoga studio daily, thinking it was such a great offer for anyone interested in yoga, which certainly wasn’t me. But – after six months of passing that invitation, I gave in. I had taken one yoga class in my life, a few years prior in college. I spent that introductory hour of yoga doing very gentle stretches and relaxing poses, and as a result, I had the idea in my head that all yoga classes were like that, Man, was I wrong!
After signing up for my free week, I looked at the description of the classes and saw ‘Yoga Sculpt’, which incorporated cardio and hand weights with yoga. That seemed to be right up my alley, so I took the plunge and went to my first class. Full disclosure – at that point I only cared about getting a good workout and burning as many calories as possible to try to offset the alcohol and late-night drunk food I was consuming (this was a looonnngg time ago). I spent that first yoga sculpt class alternating between wanting to pass out and fighting the urge to just run out of class. I probably would have run out, but I was too far away from the door and would have disrupted the whole class to get there.
I spent the next 2 days trying to learn how to walk with legs that felt like they were made of jello, BUT then I wanted to go back! For some crazy reason, I really wanted to challenge myself, so I forced myself to go back (it was free after all) and it changed my life!
Yoga Sculpt, in my opinion, is the best workout you could ever do. It has everything you need in one class. Yoga + HIIT + strength training, what more could you possibly ask for?!? The combination gets your heart pumping and calories burning, but it’s so much more than just the physical aspect!
Not only did I find muscles that I never knew I had, but I gained flexibility and endurance too. More importantly, I noticed that I felt more energized and I was in a better mood. As I continued, I noticed I had more body awareness, and miraculously didn’t injure myself as much as usual (I’m still clumsy and trip, fall or stub my toes frequently, but it has definitely improved).
As time went on, I noticed that something had shifted. I had confidence in myself and even began to find my voice. Then the biggest shift of all? I realized it wasn’t just about the workout, but it was a way of life…and I really enjoyed that life! I started taking other yoga classes, broadening my yoga practice and changing my once closeminded opinion that yoga was boring. Yoga Sculpt was my gateway drug to the big wide world of yoga, and I couldn’t get enough.
I went from being a skeptical yoga student to a yoga teacher. Now I get to share my passion with my clients that never thought they would practice yoga and show them that there’s so much more to it than all the physical benefits.
So, you’re thinking, is Yoga Sculpt for me? YES. Yoga sculpt is for everyone! If you want a fun and unique class that will boost your energy, strength and metabolism then it’s perfect for you!
Is it going to be challenging? Yup! Will you be sore the next day? Of course! But will it be worth it? Absolutely!
Don’t wait six months like I did. Don’t waste time looking for the perfect workout. Find yoga sculpt and start your journey today!
