What Brings You Joy?

Personally, I’m passionate about spreading:
Truth.
Love.
Kindness.
Honesty.
Joy.
Peace.
Possibility.
And I’m passionate about helping people see how the only thing holding
them back is from a life chock full of those things is….them. Their own
need to cling to the story that things just can’t and never will work out for them, in one way or anothe
We are our own worst enemies. It’s cliche, but it’s so true.
One of my muses, Caroline Myss, Anatomy of the Spirit, teaches that we
all have four universal archetypes governing our experience on earth as
spiritual beings having a human experience. These archetypes are meant
to help us, in a way. If we can rise to the occasion, so to speak. In
learning how to interact with this archetypal energy in a healthy and
productive way, we learn lessons and develop necessary skills to thrive.
One of these universal archetypes that we all must make peace with,
overcome and transcend, is that of the saboteur.
Brene Brown calls this same negative energy that causes harsh,
self-judgmental, inner dialogue gremlins.
Alan Cohen calls it the Voice of Fear.
teachers have a similar message about this particular topic? And please
don’t say coincidence. You know better. We both do. It’s likely because
it’s something we all experience.
Whatever the reason, I am a believer. I truly, wholeheartedly, with 100%
of my energetic and physical being believe that we are the only things
standing in our own way. And usually, it’s our thoughts that are the
cause AND the effect of the barriers we so wish to solve. Now this might sound frustrating to you. Please allow me to frame it in
another way.If you study the chakras, and likely, if you’re reading this magazine,
you do, this will likely resonate with you.
What are the elements of the chakras, as taught by Anodea Judith?
Charka 1: Earth
Charka 2: Water
Chakra 3: Fire
Chakra 4: Air
Chakra 5: Sound
Chakra 6: Light
Chakra 7: Thought (pause for effect, should I repeat it? Ok, then:
Thought.)
So then, let’s examine that more carefully. The elements of chakras 1-4
are literally tangible things that you can feel with your senses. And
then, we move up to chakras 5 & 6, not necessary tangible elements, but
still, forces that cannot be denied. (And some would argue, those
particular elements are, in fact, becoming tangible. Hence, the newfound
respect for things like “sound healing”. Yet, I digress.)
Have you ever considered that your thoughts could be as powerful as
fire? As fluid as water? As sturdy as earth? As forceful as air? Perhaps
the ancient Hindus were trying to offer us a clue here…?
And so, I humbly offer you: it’s a worthwhile, neigh, life-saving
endeavor to begin monitoring your own thoughts. Fast from fear. Lean
towards faith. With ultimate kindness and compassion, mindfully, begin
to re-wire those pieces of you that are addicted to pain and suffering.
It’s always a choice. You have a choice in what you choose to focus on.
After all, a miracle is defined as a shift in perspective in A Course in
Miracles. And you are miracle in the flesh, my friend.
What would happen if you started to focus on the things that bring you
joy? Solely and completely. Everyday. Every breath.
