Serving 3 Minute Eggs…Yoga Style

Every once in a while, someone creates a yoga product that makes so much sense, it’s hard to believe it wasn’t always around. This is most certainly the case with the Three Minute Egg®. My friend and yoga teacher, Debbi Levy, showed me her foam yoga Eggs and I was intrigued by the unique shape and difference from the rectangular shaped yoga block, but I was skeptical. Like most skeptics, I didn’t imagine it would have so much to offer — or at least not so much to offer me. However, per Debbi’s endorsement I ordered my yoga Eggs and once I had my own set it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with my new Eggs. There was a bit of a learning curve associated with using the Egg, but the time spent was well worth the benefits gained. Jason Scholder (owner/inventor of the Three Minute Egg®) is a certified yoga teacher and travels the world teaching yoga workshops and trainings with Eggs. If you ever get the chance to study with him directly, he will unlock secrets of the Egg you never knew existed.
The Three Minute Egg® is made out of the same foam as traditional yoga blocks, but the similarities stop there. First all, they are 100% MADE IN USA, and these colorful alternatives to traditional yoga blocks are actually 100% Biodegradable as well!
While I’ve always found rectangular blocks to be cumbersome and awkward to hold. Eggs, by contrast, fit nicely into the palm of my hands, the curve of my back, and the back of my knees. I’m not sure I fully appreciated the value of combining comfort with ergonomic support in yoga props until I tried the Yoga Egg. Now I can’t imagine expecting any less from my yoga props.
I’ve been doing yoga for a long time, and I could easily argue against the need for props. I’ve taken classes of varying levels, and always managed to muscle my way through most of the poses. But the Three Minute Egg® offered me a different perspective on asana. Whereas most practices demand a lot of energy from you, Three Minute Egg® supported yoga gives energy to you. That is something new, and it is definitely worth experiencing.
The Eggs come in two densities. “Hard-boiled” for dynamic (yang) practices; and “Multi-Purpose” for more restorative (yin) postures. I have both kinds and highly recommend getting a combination of each. The “Breakfast of Yogis” gives you the most Egg for your buck. With 2 Hard-Boiled Eggs and 4 Multi-Purpose Eggs, you can support just about any type of practice you can dream of. They offer “Junior Eggs” for people under 5’5” and they even have a new product called the N.Y.O.B. (pronounced: Nai-yoh-bee) which stands for “Not Your Ordinary Block” — which it most certainly is not! The NYOB combines the comfort of an Egg with the stability of a block. Brilliant! And so obvious. This company just keeps coming up with great ideas!
The Three Minute Egg® yoga props can be found online at www.ThreeMinuteEgg.com. The website offers a plethora of free information including: videos, blog articles, testimonials and product you can purchase to suit your needs. No matter what kind of yoga you enjoy, Three Minute Egg® is there to support and inspire your practice!
