Freedom to Flow

July is month where in America, freedom is celebrated with fireworks, festivals, picnics and State Fairs. But we often overlook the important piece of the summer pies that go with those celebrations…our self-care and freedom to be in our own flow.
What does freedom to flow mean?
The very definition of freedom indicates the “free” but what does that really mean? Is there really anything free anymore that doesn’t have a hidden price to pay? Freedom to flow means, taking of you and your needs, desires and wants before others, in a way that allows you to be authentically you.
Aka, LOVE SELF FIRST, not pleasing others and not worrying about losing family, friends, others because you did not put their needs before you.
Are you feeling lack of freedom and flow?
Do you find yourself cooking for everyone and neglecting to feed yourself, or feeding your family healthy food while you scarf down bits and pieces of toast and coffee to keep your energy up?
Do find yourself making sure everyone else gets daily fun activity and movement they enjoy, or even quiet time to reflect and just be, while time to fulfill yours goes by the wayside?
Do you find yourself unable to recall the last time you had fun, let alone freedom to be in your flow?
Do you feel lost in the shuffle of being everything for everyone else and no longer sure who you are under all your to-do lists?
Do you say “yes”, when you mean “no”?
How many of us push ourselves beyond our limits in the name of fulfilling someone else’s needs before our own? How many times do we limit our own fun to make sure others are having a good time? Or how often do we find ourselves, saying “yes” to a request instead of the “no” we really are feeling deep down?
I know I am guilty of it, still even after all the inner healing and personal development I have done. It is years of conditioning I am undoing to regain my freedom to be in my flow. Even more so how it feels weird to finally put my needs first, after spending my entire life from age 8 to 47, as caretaker and saying no to my desires to maintain a sense of love, safety and belonging.
I must really feel into my intuition and connect to the “yes” or “no” of the opportunities being presented, to really discern if it will allow me the freedom to be in my flow while simultaneously honoring the requests of another. This is the tricky part for learning self-care success, especially as a wife and mother.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING FOR ME?
The ability to honor self before others requires a shift in years of societal conditioning placed on women to be everything for everyone else first before taking care of self and filling her cup.
This is where many women feel guilt and shame if they do meet this expectation and on top of that, the conundrum of not having given attention to her own self-care needs, leaves her even more depleted. This place of depletion is where you run on fumes, rush from one task to the next, feel frazzled and fatigued and then unable to sleep.
The ultimate price paid in the sacrificing of nourishing your own mind, body and soul while feeling obligated to meet those same needs for others, can be weight gain, (and even possibly anger, resentment and not feeling worthy).
This in turn creates a hormonal cascade of chemicals secreted when the body is under the stress of fight or flight, because the body does not have the ability to comprehend that the danger is not real, because in the mind, stress is felt, emotionally it gets transmuted into our body.
If we are not in tune with this and continue to overlook our self-care and self-love, we will end up sick, it is only a matter of time. In fact, lack of proper self-care can kill you. The result from this state, is that the body holds on to fat and sends other chemicals throughout the body causing inflammation, brain fog, depression, anxiety, mood swings, chronic pain and disease.
But all along, it has been multiple opportunities to set new boundaries and see that it is indeed ok to honor yourself first and in doing so you find the freedom to be in your flow and say YES TO SELF!
HOW DO I GAIN SKILLS TO BE FREE IN MY FLOW?
There is good news! When we learn to shift focus to look for the positive intention in our experiences, we can see that this is a way for us to learn to balance our needs with our family, friends and coworkers as we set healthy boundaries that allow us to be in our flow and still fulfill our many other commitments.
We can learn the life skills competency needed to experience success, and we must forgive ourselves for what we did not know in the past. When we learn these skills and employ them, not only do we get in our flow, we find the freedom to have abundance in all areas of our lives.
Freedom to be who we uniquely are and fulfill our soul’s life purpose, which is to be in our flow. In that flow, is where the body is no longer in dis-ease and we then are free to live in a state of forgiveness and friendship with self, living a fun life, while feeling fantastic and free of guilt that we have let our family down.
One of the most important lessons to learn about successful self-care is that it requires you to be your best friend, provide yourself with lots of fun and heaps of forgiveness and you will feel fantastic!
When you place emphasis on these top three principles, YOU create self-love and healing energy, which is the goal of self-care.
“Self-care is your health care.” If you want to be healthy, it starts with successful self-care.

Being your best friend is fun and fantastic for many reasons. Mainly that you are not relying on anyone else to validate your worth and you are making sure the needs that matter most to you are met in the most FUN & Fantastic Way.

Life is fun, is the most important key to this powerhouse self-care trio. This is because this is a choice of how you view the world. When you see the possibilities in the world as infinite and limitless, you create that reality.

- FORGIVENESS IS FUN
Forgiveness is key, as how we do one thing is how we do everything. Remember how we treat ourselves will be mirrored outward to others. So, seek forgiveness and extend forgiveness in all things. Come from compassion of knowing that everyone is doing the best they can at every given moment with what life skills they have.
Forgiveness is powerful, because if you can embody this in all things, you are going to be so Zen that the it will increase ten-fold the success of your self-care and give you a fantastic, fun and phenomenal, lasting transformation.
