Connecting
meet. Monica (Advertising and Marketing for the magazine) and I decided
to venture off to the Intuitive Gallery, a metaphysical fair at Dhyana
Yoga Center in Plano. They hold the event every month and I highly
recommend it for an afternoon of holistic fun, insight, food and meeting
new friends. It was an honor to personally meet Vijay Warman, the owner of Dhyanna Yoga Center. He is extremely active in the community and is a reminder of how being of service to others is why we are all here.
There was a young teenage man at the center and I watched as Vijay shared with him and there was such a sweetness in the exchange that it touched my heart. I thought if everyone would communicate with each
other in this manner then the world would be a better place.
Later I found out the young man, Eric Field, has his own website
www.thespiritualseeker.net He created the website to search for truth
about who we are and why we are here and what we can do to enjoy this
life to the fullness of our potential. At 17 years old, Eric seems to be
on a lifetime path of beautiful spiritual growth and service to others.
How incredible!
One of Vijay’s favorite events he hosts is HOLI, The 6th Annual Festival
of Colors it’s going to be held Sunday, March 12th from 11am to 5pm at
Southfork Ranch in Parker. Vijay describes the event as, “An annual
celebration of Life with colors! Holi marks the start of Spring and
welcomes life with blooming flowers, the new leaves and so much
happiness! When we all get colored, we lose all the distinctions based
on economic status, religion, sex, caste, creed or nationality. We all
become one! Everyone must join us.” Everyone at Dallas Yoga Magazine
will be there and we are ready to get colored!
At the metaphysical fair, vendors were there displaying everything from
jewelry, crystals, alters to earth mats and original art work. Of
course, I love looking at the array of treasurers and had to make some
purchases myself. I bought a gorgeous brightly colored long scarf that
was made in India. The gentlemen selling it showed me how to tie it a
certain way to make it into a long flowy vest. It was so creative I had
to have it.
Rachel’s booth immediately caught my attention with her sterling silver jewelry. She showed me the earth mat and explained the grounding effects it has on people. As we were talking, I noticed my friend Pete Taboada, one of my favorite artists. Dallas Yoga Magazine featured an article on him last month. Pete had a few new paintings that I had not seen before. I love his “Crystal Infused” style, instead of just seeing the artwork, you can also feel it.
As I continued to wander I was drawn to a booth of handmade mini alters. They were made so meticulously featuring Krishna, Buddha and Ganesha. The alters were hand made by Lavanga Schlette. She explained she was a member at the Radha Kalachandji Hare Krishna Temple in Dallas (also the home to one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants.) She has the honor of changing the deity’s dressings, jewelry etc. Lavanga shared that sometimes the jewelry breaks and she has taken the pieces and placed them in the alters she makes. It was no wonder that I was drawn to her creations. The pieces on her alters had been on a 500 year deity so the energy and love was radiating.
made it easy for me to sit and listen to her. She amazed me with her insight into my life and offered me different perspectives that I had not considered. I am so happy sat down with her.
Aaron Baird was in attendance showing his “Art that Elevates.” He is extremely creative and uses clear plexi-glass to make very unique wall hangings where he incorporates gemstones. He hand finishes each stone before it is included in his art pieces. He uses gold and other metals in his paint that add a beautiful touch.
I was happy to see Tony who is the host of the Wellness Expo at Addison Conference Center. It’s being held both Saturday and Sunday, April 15th and 16th. There will be more than 100 vendors and readers, 24 talks and galleries and, of course, lots of shopping. Dallas Yoga Magazine will be there with a booth so make sure you stop and visit with us. After being surrounded by such wonderful people and energy, I left that day feeling lively and fresh. I am looking forward to more events like this one at Dhyanna Yoga Center. See you there!
