DYM: Will you share with our readers where you are from?
Elektra: I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on July 30, 1976. We moved to Dallas when I was 3 and a half years old. I was raised locally but I spent as much time as possible with my family in Colorado. I still call it home. Although Hawaii is my soul mate.
DYM: What are people’s reactions when they find out you are a yoga teacher?
Elektra: When I tell people I teach yoga, it tends to be a 50/50 reaction. Some are very hesitant, claiming they could never do that. Others are super excited with tons of questions. I like to explain that Yoga is a lifetime personal practice of uniting all the layers of self. Some days you will be super flexible and others you can have a hard time even breathing. It all depends on where you are vibrationally that day or more importantly in that moment of now. This is all the more reason to dive deep into the personal practice by helping clarify where your energy is going and where you have stagnancy.
DYM: You also are a health coach. Can you explain more about this?
Elektra: Most people know me as Holistic Health Coach, Innergy Healer, and Massage Therapist. I really like to address health on all levels: Physical, Mental and Astral. I am an avid Dream Worker who embraces her shadow on a daily basis. I absolutely love Innergy work and wholeheartedly feel we must first address the alkalinity of the body through detoxification, cleansing and nutrient reabsorption using phytonutrient superfoods. Once this is addressed we can move into deep layers of Innergy Work from clearing, balancing and activating the charkas by bringing them back to their proper vibration and frequency. I practice Reiki, Meridan Clearings, Activation of the Micro-Cosmic Orbit and also visiting the Akashic Record to clear karmas and remove epigenetics from generation DNA programming.
I also run an online superfood company. That provides organic superfoods, non-GMO whole food powders that are packed with phytonutrients! Best stuff on the planet. I have a mission to end all suffering and knock Monsanto of the map. I am forever grateful to have been able to combine my passions into my purpose to make my mission. I incorporate yoga into every session every day. Whether it be simple breathwork or deep hip openers we all need yoga as daily self-care
DYM: How did you get started on your yoga and holistic journey?
Elektra: When I was 19 years old, I was living in New Mexico with my grandparents and my newborn daughter. I was feeling unbalanced and was asking for guidance. My grandfather gave me a book. “Richard Hittleman’s 30 Day Guide to Yoga and Meditation”. I was hooked by the first lesson of Pranayama. I thought, “WOW”! Who knew breathing could be so healing. After completing the 30 days, I went and found a yoga class in Las Cruces, but I was less than impressed. I didn’t know the know the Sanskrit terms and was made fun of by the instructor. I left the class early and it was about two years before I stepped into another yoga class; however, I still continued with my home yoga practice. The more I studied the more I wanted to teach on some level. After completing Massage Therapy school at 20 years old in Colorado, I started to incorporate Yoga into my table time. I did not want anyone to feel less than or be made fun of the way I was. So, I taught what I knew and I taught from my heart. I tell my clients if you can breathe you can do yoga and I still say this to my newbies.
DYM: That answer is a perfect way to get people to understand anyone can do yoga. Do you have a preferred style of yoga?
Elektra: It’s hard to say what my favorite is. I practice TaoTantra daily, it just feels great to unite with your sacred sexual innergy. I love to teach people how to tap into their microcosmic orbit for full body healing and the kidney regeneration is beyond words. Learning to cultivate your inner smile and to be able to share that innergy with everyone has a profound universal healing on all levels.
Buti Yoga is my soul mate. I love the deep hip openers and the tribal dance combined with the Shakti Spiral it is by far the juiciest self-love practice. Buti Yoga has transformed my being and body with a deep empowerment that is second to none. I have found strength and balance that no other workout has provided for me personally. It really connects you to your divine feminine sensual creative powers. Something both women and men need more of.
DYM: What can people expect when they go to one of your classes?
Elektra: When people come to my class for the first time I really like to get them into intention setting and know that I am an omnipresent facilitator. I like to say, “We are all one and working together on our individual paths. What is your intention for your time on the mat? How can I facilitate your healing journey of self-discovery?” You can expect me to use many modalities while on your mat. Singing, chanting, Crystals, Reiki and QiGong all get tied in. The Ganeshe Mantra is my favorite, easy to learn and apply with superior effectiveness at removing physical and energetic blockages.
If you come to Buti Yoga expect to sweat and shout as we move through our Shakti with deep breaths and loud music! I want people to leave class wanting more, more of the whole beingness that comes with being present in the NOW moment with Gratitude and passionate compassion for Self. This has also been the biggest recognitions in my practice.
DYM: What is the biggest hurdle you personally had to overcome in your yoga practice?
Elektra: I, like many, have not always been compassionate with myself or others. As we have all had traumas. Keeping the consistency of my practice was my hardest hurdle, but once that came into play daily, the compassion grew, the gratefulness grew and the traumatic negative feedback loop lessened its grip so love could move in.
DYM: If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?
Elektra: If I could use one word to describe myself it would be Sovereignty! I constantly strive and thrive to be the absolute supreme independent power over my beingness. Leading by example to make sure no one gets left behind in their accession path. I think this is an important key to the vibrational changes happening on this planet Gaia. We can truly take back the ownership of our vessel, connecting all the pieces of self back together for Wholeness. This will shift the abundant collective consciousness and end the suffering of all living beings.
DYM: What advice would you give to a yoga newbie?
Elektra: If I could offer one piece of advice to someone just starting their yoga journey, it would be TRY IT ALL because it really is all about the journey, it the best part!
DYM: Thank you so much for taking the time to interview with us today. You are so knowledgeable in so many areas, such a wealth of information.
