Chair Yoga is not just for seniors! It’s for all ages and it will get your blood flowing and energy moving. Chair Yoga can reset your day, clear your mind, allow you to let go of stress, breath evenly and balance your body.
I have seen 5 and 6 year old children in Kindergarten practicing Chair Yoga with huge smiles on their faces as they place one arm on their chair and stretch the other to the sky. Listening and following directions helps children focus and calm down while being physical.
I have also seen Chair Yoga classes for senior citizens in the Silver Sneakers program who are smiling widely as they twist in their chairs and then practice warrior poses with one leg either on the chair or over the chair. It doesn’t seem to matter what age the students, Chair Yoga brings smiles!
Below are 16 beginner Chair Yoga poses for you to practice when you are sitting down or standing by your chair. Get your office partner or cubicle neighbors to do it together and make it more fun. If the boss permits take it into the conference room and invite everyone. The more the merrier!
